Ferry to Anambas
If you prefer taking a ferry to Anambas, as opposed to taking a flight, then make your way to Tanjung Pinang, in Pulau Bintan, just south of Singapore. From Singapore, you can take a ferry to Tanjung Pinang, about a 90 minute sail.
Once you're in Tanjung Pinang, head for the ferry port and get on either the VOC Batavia or MV Seven Star, depending on the day of the week. Both of these vessels will go to Tarempa, Anambas, by way of Jemaja. The trip is 7-8 hours to Jemaja and then another 2 hours from Jemaja to Tarempa.
Alernatively, you take this recently added ferry from Pulau Batam instead.
In addition to these ferries, there's the Bukit Raya, a passenger cruise ship, capable of carrying close to 1000 passengers between Tanjung Pinang and Tarempa. Keep in mind that the Bukit Raya only services this route twice a month. Also, the Bukit Raya isn't nearly as fast as the ferries above, which means that it can take up to 20 hours to reach your destination.
