Dolphin-Spotting in Anambas
Dolphins and man seem to have a special kind of bond. A sense of elation seems to always well up inside us when we see dolphins, the perpetual smile on their happy faces, their playful nature. And it appears dolphins like our presence too.
The Anambas islands are the habitat to a number of dolphin pods. Some of these dolphin pods are relatively modest in size, but other pods count up to 30 dolphins. One pod in the Tarempa area comprises more than 50 dolphins. This pod is regularly spotted from boats in the area.
In fact, whilst none of the dolphins in the Anambas area seem to have be particularly concerned about the proximity of boats, such as those belonging to the local fishermen, this Tarempa pod appears to even exhibit a certain curiosity towards small vessels in the vicinity.
Have you always wanted to see dolphins up close? Do you enjoy seeing dolphins swim alongside your boat, playfully jumping out of the water and having a fun time? Then use below form to book a dolphin-spotting excursion.
Obviously, I can't guarantee the dolphins will always appear of course and a bit of patience is recommended. But in more cases than not they are spotted. You can even try to get into the water with them. just do it without too much splashing or noise. This way, it's a fun day for us and a fun day for the dolphins.
Lastly, there are periods when the dolphins appear a bit more wary than usual, for example during the mating season. In these cases, please try not to coax the dolphins nearer, for example by feeding* them. I recommend that you just leave them in peace.
*Never ever throw morsels of fish, squid or bread in the water, or anything else for that matter. We absolutely do not want the dolphins to associate people with the presence of food. Thank you for your cooperation.
