Anambas Fly-fishing

Are you a keen fly-fishing angler and looking for a spot that's still untouched by man, let alone by other fly-fishermen? Then make your way to Anambas.

Anambas is a tropical edge-of-the-world archipelago that offers countless still un-explored fly-fishing locations, both within the islands' primary jungles and expansive coastal areas, as well amidst the islands' thriving pristine mangroves.

In fact, it's safe to say that Anambas hasn't ever been fly-fished before. The territory isn't very well-known at all by many, much less well-known as a fly-fishing location.

That being said, the degree of unfamiliarity of Anambas is probably inversely proportional to its immense potential as a fly-fishing haven.

To be sure, fishing is one of the main activities in Anambas. Fishing and fish-related industries are actually the main source of income here. However, far and away most fishing in and around Anambas is done out at sea, around the coasts, as well as offshore, with tuna being the most important quarry.

Now, there's some degree of recreational fishing in going on in Anambas, although it's mostly visitors from The Indonesian mainland and neighboring countries like Singapore and Malaysia that come to Anambas on charter excursions. But these anglers, too, tend to be after offshore species common here, such as grouper, tuna, GT, mackerel and perhaps a billfish or two.

Bottom-line, fly-fishing is as good as unknown in Anambas. This means that the fly-fishing ecosystems found in the area, from the fast-flowing waterfall-fed jungle streams to the brackish water encountered along some of the islands' edges, are still in immaculate condition and in all likelihood bursting at the seams with potential.

When you come flyfishing in Anambas, I'll have a nature guide take you to off-the-beaten-track locations that promise to deliver. It may not always be easy to get there, but the rewards are as yet completely unexplored fishing grounds - Priceless!

Throw in year-round tropical weather, breathtaking vistas, an unrivalled cuisine and affordable pricing and it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll be going back home with a smile on your face, plenty of awesome pictures and memories that will last a life-time.
